Hi, I’m Pieter Frank de Jong – also known as Peter Perch – co-founder of Recast. I’m a design system specialist, lifelong angler, and fish illustrator.
If I’m not designing products, I’m fishing or painting fish — and for the past 10 years, I’ve created fish artwork for everything from restaurants and local guides to major brands like Patagonia, SIMMS, and Gamakatsu.
After moving from the Netherlands to Spain, I had a gear problem: too much of the wrong stuff, not enough of the right stuff — and no easy way to buy and sell second hand fishing gear on a dedicated marketplace. So I built one.
Recast is a social marketplace for buying and selling secondhand fishing gear. Think Poshmark or Vinted — but tailored for rods, reels, lures, electronics, apparel, and more. We’re building a trusted platform where anglers can extend the life of their gear and connect with fellow fishing fanatics.
We’re now live in the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Belgium — and actively welcoming early users as the community takes shape. Our goal? To become the first truly global marketplace for secondhand fishing gear.
